3d Studio Max Student Version

That's just the way it is, I'm afraid. That's why you get the Student version for free - otherwise AD would just be giving it away (not the best way to run a company). What you could do is use your Student version to learn how to make a few things that you need, then Rent Max for a month (which IS a commercial license) and remake them in there. Way cheaper, at this stage, than buying a commercial version outright, plus you can then use those models when you eventually buy it, and because you're not waiting a couple of years before remaking, the models will benfit from your practice. Not the solution/answer you want, I'm sure, but not a bad compromise all the same. I have been looking for an answer like this one but can seem to find it. As far as this post I would rent it and do not mess with a good thing.

Autodesk is one of the VERY few companies that let you get a free way to learn their program. My question is could I go back and forth from student version and a licensed version as long as my intent is for learning. At work during lunch I would like to work on things from home for my portfolio and to learn things I read.

The problem is at home is Student version and at work I have a Full version. Just would like to know the rules and regulation on this. I also have a student licence and want to upgrade to commercial.

I got a model created in 3dsmax 2015 student version. If I upgrade 3dsmax 2015 student version to 3dsmax 2015 commercial version, I am not allowed to use the model, although bouth versions are the versions for 2015?

So the only important thing is the date when I activate the commercial licence - everything created before that date (even if it is the same version of 3dsmax) is not usable for commercial purpose. Did I understand that right? Sorry if I am nit- picking here, I just want make 100% sure. Best regards Gernot. Hi again - I got some more Questions: I am about to purchase the commercial license in one or two weeks. 1) Currently I am working on a model with the student version. I would like to finish the model after I installed the commercial version - it is not for commercial purpose but for portfolio only.

Am I able to open the model with the commercial version to finish it or do I need to leave the student version installed for that purpose? 2) The price hike up to 30% after 31.January is for upgrades only as I understand it? New permanent licenses (with maintenance subscription) are not going up in price after Jan 31st, right?
